Peckham Ply is a temporary building proposal for a pizzeria and bar, originally born out of the desire to re-use the plywood from Jailmake’s Tom Dixon project. Based on an ‘inner-city village hall’ concept; the building is a compact, open, mixed-use space for retail, cultural exchange and community use.
The development is centred around a London plane tree, from which services and communal spaces branch out. A central double-height atrium maximises natural light at the heart of the main circulation and communal area, providing a focal point for the activities within, as well as ample space for the tree tenant.
